Fighting Superbugs!

Dr. Omar El-Halfawy is a Canada Research Chair in Chemogenomics and Antimicrobial Research
and an Assistant Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Regina.

The El-Halfawy Lab is actively working towards solutions for the current antibiotic crisis by uncovering novel antibiotic resistance and microbial virulence mechanisms, and discovering new antimicrobial strategies.

Research directions

Uncovering novel virulence and antibiotic resistance determinants

Characterizing interbacterial interactions
